Our
farm name, Chinook Arabians, did not come about by accident. At the early
age of eight Darlene was introduced to and began riding an Arabian Stallion
by the name of 'Chinook's Journey'! Although some would view this as unsafe
and many areas consider it illegal, Darlene would ride her new best friend
all over her home town of Maple Ridge, BC, known at the time as "horse
capitol of British Columbia".
The picture you see on the left is Darlene and Chinook enjoying a bareback
dip in the river at Allco Park back in 1984. The
picture to the right is Chinook running with The Silver Ghost
(then black and 2 1/2 years old).
Bob and Darlene
have been breeding Arabian Horses since 1988 and have enjoyed meeting
many wonderful people in the industry. "It is a complete way of life"
Darlene explains, "Horses are my life".
Chinook passed away on November 10th, 2004 as he was entering his 32nd
year, but not before teaching many people the true nature of the Arabian
Horse; Beauty, Presence, and Companionship.
These are the three principles Bob and Darlene endeavor to triumph with
their breeding program "in honor of our great friend" says Bob.
"Trends may come and go, but we stay focused on producing and training
foals that mature to be sensible, responsive, and conformationaly correct
without jeopardizing the pure and natural beauty for which the Arabians
was always meant to have."
